The examiner may need you to determine the perspective from which a text has been written. There are 3 main points of view:
First person- when we talk about ourselves, then that is first person perspective. This will normally use the first person pronouns either singular or plural. Such include, I, we, us, my, mine, myself, our etc
Second person- this perspective belongs to the person or people being addressed. It’s called the You perspective. The pronouns used include: you, your, yours, yourself, yourselves.
Third person- the person or people being talked about belong to the third person perspective. Pronoun used include he, him, his, himself, she, her, hers, herself, it, its, itself, they, them, their, theirs, and themselves. NB: you should not only rely on pronouns to show you the third person perspective. Sometimes, the names of people, things being talked about can be provided eg. Kingsley was such a creative boy.
